Can food age your ass? Damn right it can!
In this episode, you’ll find out what foods will make you look older, the more you eat them.
It’s pretty scary, because these are some of the most popular foods in North America and guys nosh on them on a regular basis.
Sodium – Sodium contributes to water retention and an overall ‘puffy,’ aged appearance.
Soda & Energy Drinks – Since dehydration is one of the main factors that contributes to older looking skin, aim to drink the recommended 8-10 glasses of water per day…especially if you’re consuming alcohol or working out.
Alcohol – A healthy liver means healthy skin. When your liver is functioning well, toxins that could potentially affect the skin are expelled naturally through your body. But if toxins build up in your liver, and aren’t broken down properly, your skin can develop a variety of issues, like acne, sallowness, and wrinkles.
To top it off, alcohol is dehydrating and bad for your sleep, which was associated with accelerated aging because inadequate sleep is linked to wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, and reduced skin elasticity.
Bacon – That sizzling strip of bacon may be calling your name come brunch, but think twice.
Preservatives used in processed meats may create free radicals within the body.
Free radicals lead to oxidation of your cells and DNA, and they can cause enough damage to lead to cancer or other health conditions. No thank you!
Potato Chips – If you’re craving something crunchy, try whole grain crackers or chopped veggies like zucchini sticks or celery—because the ingredients in potato chips will dry up your internal fountain of youth super fast.
Why? Because there’s a double whammy of sodium AND trans fats that inhibit cell respiration, which impacts your skin’s appearance.
Deep Fried Fast Food – Restaurants will typically use corn oil, one of the unhealthiest oils. I’m not just repeating something I heard here – I used to work as a cook and restaurant owners are always looking for ways to save a buck.
Once again, the main result of consuming this crap is the release of age-accelerating free radicals.
See why I said this was a little scary? The foods I just mentioned are eaten on a very regular basis, so do your best to avoid these to preserve your dapptitude for as long as possible.
Next episode – it’s all about entrepreneurship. Even if you’re already in business, I strongly recommend you join in because I’ll be giving away copies of a book every business owner must own.
